Related Products Plus (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a Shopify app that displays related product recommendations on your store’s product pages. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Data We Collect

When a merchant installs Related Products Plus, we collect and store the following:

• Store information — your Shopify store URL and app configuration settings (recommendation source order and enabled sources).
• Order data — paid order line items, accessed read-only from Shopify and used solely to identify which products are frequently purchased together. We store aggregated product co-occurrence counts, not individual order records or customer identities.
• Product metafield data — when you use the Bulk Link tool, we write a list of related product IDs to a metafield on each product. This data is stored within your Shopify store, not on our servers.
• Shopify session tokens — short-lived authentication tokens used to identify your store during active sessions.

We do not collect customer names, email addresses, payment information, or any personally identifiable information about your shoppers.

2. How We Use Data

• To analyse your store’s order history and identify products that are frequently bought together.
• To serve personalised product recommendations on your storefront via the Related Products Plus widget.
• To store your app configuration preferences.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Fly.io — application hosting and database storage. Data is stored in the European Union (Amsterdam region). See fly.io/legal/privacy-policy.

4. Data Retention

Co-purchase data and configuration settings are retained for as long as your store has the app installed. When the app is uninstalled, all store data (including co-purchase pairs and settings) is deleted from our database automatically. Product metafields written by the Bulk Link tool remain on your products in Shopify after uninstall — these can be removed manually from your Shopify admin if needed.

5. Merchant Responsibilities

Merchants using Related Products Plus act as the data controller for their store’s data. It is the merchant’s responsibility to ensure their own storefront privacy policy discloses the use of recommendation tools and complies with applicable laws including GDPR, CCPA, and any other relevant data protection regulations in their jurisdiction.

6. GDPR & Your Rights

Related Products Plus does not store personally identifiable customer data. Co-purchase data is stored as aggregated product-to-product counts only — no customer identifiers are retained. As such, there is no individual customer data to access, correct, or delete.

If you are a merchant and wish to request deletion of your store’s data prior to uninstalling the app, please contact us at the address below and we will process the deletion within 30 days.
